All children progress at different rates.  Generally, the more confident and relaxed the pupil is the quicker they progress to become competent swimmers.

Younger children can find the swimming pool environment daunting, meeting teachers and fellow pupils can be scary for the first time. We generally find that children need a settling period of 2/3 weeks while they get accustomed to their new surroundings and find out how much fun swimming lessons can be.
